Under Utilized Automobile Maintenance Industry
In our nation we sure talk a lot about trying to get ourselves off our dependency on foreign oil. Still, it is amazing how many people drive around with the improper air pressure their tires costing them several miles per gallon off of their optimum fuel efficiency. Likewise, it is amazing how many cars in America in need of tune-ups, a simple tune-up would also increase their gas mileage nearly 5 miles per gallon. What we have in the United States is an underutilized automobile maintenance sector.
If everyone tuned up their car, and put air in their tires they would all save money and it would drastically lower the amount of imported oil that we use in our nation. Still, people are strapped for cash and trying to pay their bills and they are more worried about making their credit card payments, house payments and saving a little money in case they are laid off.
Therefore, because of improper planning ahead they are putting those necessities and personal financial funds ahead of what is prudent.
Unfortunately, as General Motors and Chrysler closed dealerships, there will be even fewer people taking their cars in for tune-ups. And with fewer people buying new cars they are keeping their older cars longer, which probably get less fuel-efficiency.
All of these factors are very serious, and the citizens need to understand that if they do not keep their cars in good maintenance order, it is like flushing money down the toilet. Not to mention the fact that it keeps our dependency on foreign oil and our economy in a cage. I hope you will please consider all this.
